Birthstone engagement rings: July to December

If you’re interested in unique and eye-catching coloured engagement rings in Sydney, there are a wide range of birthstone designs available. With a different stunning stone for each month of the year, it is a wonderful way to personalise your design. At Midas Jewellery we incorporate a wide range of precious gemstones into our signature diamond designs. If your birthday is between July and December, here are a few birthstone and diamond engagement ring options for you to fall in love with!

      July – Ruby

Rubies capture a passion and unlike any other gemstone at Midas Jewellery. The rich red colouring of rubies makes them perfect for striking and intricate designs. The contrast between white diamonds and rubies complements the colouring of each to create an alluring presence. With a hardness of 9 on the Moh’s scale, rubies are a durable stone making them a solid choice for a ring that will be worn every day. For a birthstone that captures the intensity of your love, the ruby is a spirited choice for any engagement ring.

      August – Peridot

Peridot is one of the lesser known precious gemstones but has a presence as captivating as the rest. The vivid green tones of peridot gemstones make a remarkable impression when paired with a white gold or platinum band. A cushion cut peridot within a halo setting creates a unique charm that captures the joy it is said to represent. With only a 7 on the Moh’s scale, the halo setting not only benefits appearance, but provides a secure setting for the centre stone. For those born in August that are looking for a design unlike most, a peridot gemstone would make a delightful choice for an engagement or cocktail ring.

      September – Sapphire

The blue sapphire ring is quickly becoming one of the most popular choices amongst coloured engagement gemstones. Their royal significance, along with links to serenity and honesty make them a fitting choice to start a life together. Sapphires have a hardness level of 9 on the Moh’s scale, securing their reputation as a durable alternative to diamonds. Oval and cushion cut sapphire and diamond rings with white gold or platinum bands are especially breathtaking. For a ring fit for royalty, those born in September are in luck!

      October – Tourmaline

Tourmaline is available in a number of colours from olive green to peachy pink. With a rating of 7-7.5 on the Moh’s scale, this gemstone requires a secure setting and some extra care to remain in good shape. At Midas Jewellery, we can customise tourmaline designs to prevent damage to the stone and coordinate with precious metals and settings that complement its shape and colouring. Believed to be associated with creativity, a tourmaline engagement or cocktail ring could be the perfect project to work on with the help of our master jewellers in Sydney.

      November – Topaz

Topaz comes in a variety of colours but in engagement ring designs, it is most common in its white and blue forms. White topaz is an affordable alternative to diamonds, but with a score of 8 on the Moh’s scale they are more than 6 times more likely to get scratched. Blue topaz is believed to symbolise affection and stability. Within a protective setting, such as a halo or bezel, it is much less vulnerable to damage. This signature Midas Jewellery blue topaz and diamond design could be exactly what you’ve been looking for!

      December – Tanzanite

Tanzanite is similar in colouring to sapphires but lacks their durability making them a rare choice for engagement rings. Having a hardness of only 6.5-7 on the Moh’s scale makes it considerably more vulnerable to damage than both sapphires and blue topaz. However, within a secure halo of white diamonds the colouring is enchanting. For those born in December, a tanzanite engagement ring could be an affordable alternative to sapphires with a vibrant appearance.
