      Top Midas proposals of 2020

As the year comes to an end, it is time to look back and reflect on the year that was 2020. This year was unlike any other with many unforeseen events.

But that didn’t stop love! For many couples, a positive event that came out of this year was engagements.

Although restricted from travelling far for most of the year, many couples were still able to take their relationships to the next level.

Instead of endless proposals held on holidays overseas, this year saw many couples getting creative by popping the question from the comfort of their own home country (and in many cases, their literal home!).

At Midas Jewellery, we just wanted to say congratulations to all of our customers. With a number of our engagement rings used in proposals around Australia, we couldn’t be happier to help make 2020 an exciting year for many couples.

Keep reading below to see just some of the exciting proposals we proudly contributed to in 2020:

      Chris and Angela

Chris kick-started the year by popping the question to his gorgeous partner, Angela. In a beautiful January setting just perched beneath the grassy fields of Harbour Bridge, life-size ‘Marry Me’ box letters were lit up overlooking the harbour.

The illuminating question was led by a classic red carpet, giving an extra breath-taking view for a proposal. Complete with a spectacular solitaire diamond ring with a stunning diamond-encrusted band.

      Kiro and Nicky

Just because a proposal is at home, doesn’t mean it can’t be extravagant! Kiro created an exemplary at-home-proposal with a romantic setting for his now-wife, Nicky.

The dreamy set-up was created within the comfort of their home, featuring a compelling amount of decorations.

To create his romantic proposal, Kiro had an array of pink and red balloons, both floating on the roof and scattered around the floor. Several cushions, romantically lit candles, a generous amount of flower bouquets and not one, but two mouth-watering grazing boards were involved.

Add miniature letters spelling ‘Marry Me’ and one dazzling double halo pear shaped engagement ring from yours truly, and you have one happy ending!

      Liana and Issa

Issa made the most of his utterly romantic proposal by creating a picturesque Parisian influenced atmosphere. It was set within the manicured courtyard of the InterContinental Sydney Hotel in Double Bay and was as sweet as it was luscious.

While they couldn’t be on location in Paris, Issa treated Liana to a proposal under a miniature Eiffel Tower within the greenery of the courtyard.

Issa lovingly coated the ground in rose petals, got down on one knee for the proposal and presented a custom-made ring created specially by a Midas Jeweller.

The magical day was followed by a private dinner for two, thus completing this romantic proposal guaranteed to get a yes.

      Mark and Dani

      Location, location, location!

Although travelling wasn’t an option at the time, Mark made the most of the proposal by selecting a spot with views equally as stunning to those in Europe. This incredibly romantic proposal took place overlooking the South Pacific Ocean.

Perched on a rock cliff with the ocean as the backdrop, Mark popped the question on the edges of the Bondi Golf and Diggers Club in the Eastern Suburbs. He got down on one knee, ask Dani to be his wife and the rest was history.

Dani and Mark’s engagement featured a timeless solitaire engagement ring.

      Tonz and Maria

Tonz made a stunning winter proposal in July with a winter-inspired setting.

Set within a gorgeous igloo on a private deck at the Pier One Hotel in Sydney, this proposal was not only well suited to the season but made for a unique and beautiful moment the couple will never forget.

Taking place at night, the igloo looked magical lit up. With a life-size ‘Marry Me’ spelled out and situated within the igloo, white pillows and candles were spread amongst the tent, surrounded by roses and petals on the floor for that further appeal.

It was no surprise Maria said yes with the utterly breath-taking scene.

      Tamara and Stefan

Stefan took advantage of his home state, New South Wales, home to iconic coasts and locations, when proposing to his gorgeous partner Tamara.

Stefan selected the exquisite Hyams Beach in Jervis Bay for his proposal location and was able to achieve a classic beach proposal.

Walking along the beach barefoot but dressed to impress in a casual yet elegant manner, Stefan got on one knee and proposed to his partner with the perfect oval engagement ring.

Everything is magical with the fact that he custom-designed the ring with one of our master jewellers!

The couple was able to capture this important milestone, with a hidden photographer’s help, to remember for the rest of their life.

      Chauntell and Christopher

Overlooking the Sydney Harbour with the iconic Opera House in the background, Christopher and Chauntell made a commitment to their relationship in a decadent proposal set-up.

The set up took advantage of the night. and featured jumbo light-up letters that spelled out ‘Marry Me’.

Christopher definitely knew how to create a magical atmosphere with lighting!

With the additional help of candles, champagne, red roses and petals spread across the room, a slim red carpet led up to the important moment.

Securing the proposal with a dazzling round engagement ring, this proposal is what dreams are made of.

      Jordan and Jamy-Lee

Ditching the coast for a bushy but equally romantic backdrop, Jordan and Jamy-Lee found their proposal in a natural New South Wales hinterland.

The happy couple made a commitment to take their relationship to the new level, officially sealed with one of our beloved cushions cut engagement rings.

Making the most of nature, Jordan asked Jamy-Lee to be his wife during a romantic sunset.

Perched on a cliff overlooking a river surrounded by a valley shadowed by a pink Twilight-kissed sky, this setting made for a magical proposal that will not be forgotten.

      Jonathan and Marie

A proposal made for the books; Jonathan took his gorgeous bride-to-be to the iconic rock formations within Kurnell National Park.

Taking place beside the ocean and with the sun on show, the location provided the ideal weather for a momentous milestone.

Jonathan and Marie set their engagement in stone with a stunning diamond ring. The memorable event was organised and a video prepared with drones capturing the moment.

With the couple able to watch this special event over and over for years to come, we are so happy to have such an important contribution to their big moment.

      Eylem and Destan

Destan got on one knee to propose to Eylem, presenting his partner with an iconic solitaire ring from yours truly.

Utilising an extravagant set-up, Destan went all out with an arc of red flowers matching a traditional red carpet complete with fallen rose petals leading up to the set-up. A signage asking ‘Eylem, will you marry me?’, completed the experience.

This couple certainly had a romantic moment they will cherish forever.

From the entire Midas Jewellery team, we just want to wish all couples who we helped with their engagement a big congratulations.

Despite the uncertainties of 2020, it is great to see that love trumps all with a tremendous amount of proposals as proof.
